Kate Cole, Melissa Darch and Stephanie Howes invite you to a 3 hour workshop on show production. Whether you have the half baked essence of an idea or a fully conceptualized masterpiece, you’ll leave with a written out pitch and the tools to succeed. For just $10 get tips and tricks from three successful show producers. Side Stage or Main stage, year long run, one-off show, or somewhere in between, these three improv shop regulars have insider secrets to share.
Kate Cole has been performing consistently with The Improv Shop since 2011. In addition to performing with Harold and independent teams, she has performed in multiple character ensemble and one-woman shows. Kate has also produced successful runs/shows at The Improv Shop including: Friday Soiree- the Shop’s first weekly indie team run, Empty Full of Sorrows: Ex Improvica Satanicaus, Frontrunner and is currently working on Crowned: An Improvised Beauty Pageant. Kate won the 2016 Cagematch tournament as part of the twosies team, 50 Eagles, securing her personal title as undefeated since the competition was introduced at The Improv Shop. Kate also wrote, performed and was the assistant director for the highly produced, televised, weekly late night talk show STL UpLate for 3 years until its completion in 2016.
Melissa Darch has been in the Improv Shop community since 2013. She’s played with three Harold teams, Missed Connections and several independent teams in the Cagematch and the Bunker. SHe was a writer and actress on STL UpLate for three years. Last year, she produced Weird Stuff, an improv/sketch show that ran for 18 weeks. This year she’s helping to produce Green Room Sauce, a polished sketch show with a 4 week main stage run.
Stephanie Howes has been a part of the improv community since 2015. She is a member of indie teams 10:02 and Lady Die, as well as playing on two Improv Shop Harold teams. She has been the show runner/producer of The Bunker for over a year, a current show running weekly on the side stage.
About the workshop:
The goal of the workshop is to help you through the whole process. At the end of the workshop you should:
1)Feel confident and prepared to pitch your idea to the Improv Shop.
2)Feel confident and prepared to choose or audition a cast, and choose or audition openers.
3)Feel confident and have ideas for marketing the show before and during the run.
4)Feel confident and prepared to smoothly run the show up to the Shop’s (and your) standards.
The workshop is January 20th from 11am-2pm. $10.
